Provided by AGPFrench government spokesperson Maud Bregeon clarified the position following a cabinet session, pointing to the ship's registry and crew as key factors in France's assessment.
"The CMA CGM vessel was not flying the French flag. It was a Maltese-flagged ship with a Filipino crew," Bregeon told reporters after the meeting.

The CMA CGM container ship San Antonio came under attack Tuesday while navigating the Strait of Hormuz, the company confirmed. The strike left several crew members wounded and caused structural damage to the vessel. CMA CGM did not specify the number of injured personnel or elaborate on the extent of the ship's damage.
