France Reiterates Security Commitment to Nordic, Baltic States
French President Emmanuel Macron said in a message posted on X that he held a videoconference with leaders from Nordic countries and Baltic states, during which he reaffirmed France’s solidarity and long-term commitment to their security concerns.
Macron argued that the war in Ukraine has revealed the limits of Russia’s strategic and territorial ambitions, stating that Moscow is “facing defeat in Ukraine” and continuing to engage in provocative actions against neighboring countries in an attempt to break the current military stalemate.
He added that European allies must remain united, stressing continued cooperation and collective response measures.
The French president also highlighted France’s contribution to regional defense efforts, including the deployment of troops in Estonia and Romania, as well as participation in NATO’s Baltic air policing operations.
